How many days to discharge after hysterectomy

There is usually a little bloody discharge after hysterectomy, which has to last for a few days, usually varies from person to person and is common within 1-2 weeks, while some will last for about 1 month. The amount, color, and nature of the discharge should be observed at regular intervals. If the bloody discharge is excessive and prolonged, or if it is purulent, consider it abnormal. It is commonly associated with poor healing of the vaginal stump, local polyp formation, local hematoma formation, etc., and needs to be identified and treated. 1. Poor healing of the vaginal stump: The vaginal stump needs to be sutured after hysterectomy, and it takes a few days for the vaginal stump to heal after suturing, and there will be continuous vaginal bleeding during this time. This is usually normal and does not require special intervention. If the bleeding is heavy or prolonged, or if it is accompanied by abdominal pain or fever, it is important to see a doctor promptly as this may be a sign of a poorly healing vaginal stump. After propping up the vaginal wall with a speculum to expose the stump, it will be found that the vaginal stump is defective and even the fallopian tube is seen to be protruding, which needs to be re-sutured. 2. Local hematoma: persistent bleeding from the vaginal stump is sometimes a sign of hematoma formation, often accompanied by persistent abdominal pain and fever, and ultrasound examination can clarify that there is a hematoma, which should be locally cut open and drained, and antibiotic anti-infection treatment should be given at the same time. 3. Local polyps: sometimes also associated with stump polyp formation is related, to perform polyp removal, if there are unabsorbed thread knots for a long time, the thread knots should be removed. If there is excessive discharge, although there is no blood, but accompanied by odor, or vulvovaginal itching, it is often a sign of postoperative vaginitis, and the vaginal discharge should be checked to confirm the diagnosis. After the surgery, during the recovery period, attention should be paid to clean and dry vulva, just wash the vulva with warm boiled water every night. You should take more rest and avoid weight-bearing and sexual life for 3 months. Also, the diet should be light, with more protein and no spicy and stimulating food.
