What factors are associated with the development of thyroid cancer?

Thyroid cancer is a malignant lesion of the thyroid tissue, accounting for 1% of all malignant tumors, and is one of the fastest growing cancers in the last 20 years or so. Currently, it ranks 5th among malignant tumors in women, which shows that thyroid cancer is a very common malignancy. It may be related to high or low iodine content in the diet, exposure to radiation, increased estrogen production, genetic factors, and certain benign thyroid diseases such as nodular goiter, hyperthyroidism, thyroid adenoma, and especially chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis in a few cases can also evolve towards thyroid cancer. There is also a relationship between certain genes and the development of thyroid cancer, suggesting that thyroid cancer is genetically related.
