If the fetal position is found to be incorrect after 28 weeks of gestation and the umbilical cord is also wrapped around the neck, it is not recommended to correct the fetal position by knee-chest position or moxibustion at the Zhiyin point, because the fetal cord wrapped around the neck is prone to relative cord shortening in late gestation, and the process of changing the fetus from breech or transverse position to head position during the correction of fetal position may increase the number of weeks of cord wrapping around the neck. In the process of changing the fetal head from breech to head position, the relatively too short umbilical cord may be stretched and lead to fetal hypoxia, and in serious cases, it may lead to placental abruption caused by the cord pulling the placenta. If the fetal position is not corrected with the umbilical cord wrapped around the neck, it is not recommended to correct the fetal position, most of the fetuses will turn to head position naturally, only a small percentage will be in breech or transverse position.
