Causes of ventricular septal defect

Ventricular septal defect, as a congenital heart disease, is primarily a congenital dysplasia of the fetal heart, and any factor that can affect the development of the fetal heart can lead to the condition.
Currently, genetic factors are considered to be one of the main causes of ventricular septal defect. In addition, viral infections, teratogenic drugs and exposure to high levels of radiation during the mother’s pregnancy can also affect the normal development of the foetus and lead to the development of congenital heart diseases such as ventricular septal defect.
