Is gastrointestinal mesenchymal tumour a benign or malignant tumour? Is it a cancer?

Most small gastrointestinal mesenchymal tumours (<2cm in diameter) are considered benign, but gastrointestinal mesenchymal tumours are now considered to be tumours with malignant potential, meaning that they are likely to develop into malignant tumours, or cancer, so once diagnosed, they need to be surgically removed if possible.
For non-metastatic gastrointestinal mesenchymal tumours, complete and thorough surgical resection can cure the disease in some patients, but some patients may still experience recurrence and metastasis after surgery, and patients need to be monitored regularly after surgery and follow medical advice for regular review.
There is no definite prevention for this disease for the time being, and regular medical check-ups allow early detection of the disease.
