Summer vacation, the “golden period” for strabismus surgery

Summer vacation is coming, for the usual heavy study tasks of primary and secondary school students, you can breathe a sigh of relief. Therefore, many people turn their attention to the “long-lost” TV and computer again. However, I remind students and parents that children’s eyes also need a “vacation”; moreover, this is a good time for vision care and rehabilitation. Early signs of myopia and astigmatism People have always thought that vision loss is “quietly” coming, until the discovery of blurred vision, it is already done. In fact, before vision loss, the occurrence of myopia is a harbinger, there are signals. Eye fatigue, some primary or secondary school students, reading for a long time, the handwriting will overlap serial, look up and then look at the object in front of you, there is a sense of improbable, floating unstable. Some people look far away for a long time and then move their vision to near objects, or look near for a long time and then move to distant objects, there will be a brief blurring phenomenon in front of the eyes. These are all signs that the ciliary muscle of the eye is not working properly and are caused by eye strain. In addition, some children and adolescents may have recurrent chalazion, mydriasis, or blepharitis. Although these children may have a visual acuity of 1.0 or higher, they are already “playing” the prelude to myopia. Perceptual allergy occurs at the same time as eye fatigue, many people also have burning, itching, dryness, swelling and pain in the eyes, and in severe cases the pain spreads deep into the orbits, even causing migraines, and also causing soreness in the occiput, neck, shoulders and back, which is due to fatigue perceptual allergy in the sensory nerves of the eyes. Some children may even have symptoms such as lack of concentration in class, slowness of reaction, and irritability. Ophthalmologists refer to these as “myopic prodromal syndrome”. The first thing that occurs before myopia is not vision loss, but rather neurological symptoms. Myopia is not just a problem of the eyes, but is closely related to systemic changes. According to statistics, 40% of the aura symptoms of myopia occur first in the sensitive trigeminal and autonomic nervous systems. Parents should pay attention to vision checkups and health care once they find their children have vision problems, including daily diet, reading and writing posture, etc. Amblyopia and strabismus in children: seize the best treatment period Amblyopia is a relatively common eye disease in pediatric ophthalmology, with an incidence of 3-4%; the prevalence of strabismus in children and adolescents has also exceeded 1%. In addition to congenital factors, amblyopia is mainly caused by strabismus, refractive error, refractive error and other factors. Children with amblyopia not only have poor visual acuity, but more importantly, they are unable to produce a complete sense of stereo when looking at an object with both eyes, making many tasks that require fine manipulation or normal stereo vision impossible. If a parent observes that a child often looks sideways or gets very close to something, it is important to have his or her vision checked by a doctor. The best time to treat amblyopia is from 3 to 6 years old, followed by 7 to 10 years old and 10 to 14 years old, because the treatment becomes more difficult and less effective as the child gets older. Strabismus is a condition in which both eyes cannot look at a target at the same time and the position of the two eyes is not symmetrical. Strabismus not only destroys a person’s image and creates low self-esteem in children, but also easily leads to amblyopia. The age requirement for strabismus treatment is very strict, and congenital strabismus should be treated surgically within 2 years of age, and the cure rate can be as high as 80% or more within 6 years of age, but the treatment effect will be significantly reduced as the age grows. Children’s strabismus and amblyopia should be investigated and treated early At present, strabismus and amblyopia have become the most common ophthalmic diseases in children, so it is urgent to take preventive measures actively. The Eyre Eye Care Center has made significant progress in the use of functional training and medication for the comprehensive treatment of amblyopia. There has also been a breakthrough in the surgical treatment of various complex strabismus, and the success rate of correction has been greatly improved. Early detection and timely and effective treatment of children with strabismus and amblyopia are crucial. Therefore, parents and teachers should pay attention to the abnormal aura of children, and children over 3 years old should have regular eye examinations for timely detection and early treatment to avoid irreversible consequences. To prevent the occurrence of strabismus and amblyopia in children, it is important to strengthen children’s eyes, use them effectively and reasonably, and avoid overloading them.
