The following are the dietary considerations for patients after thyroid cancer surgery: 1. Within 24-72 hours after surgery, patients are recommended to eat thin, soft, light and easily digestible food, such as thin porridge, noodles, rice flour and rice paste. If the patient eats hard, irritating and indigestible food, it will aggravate the pain and discomfort in the throat. 2. After the patient fully resumes normal diet, he/she needs to eat non-iodized salt for a long time, and cannot eat iodized salt, seafood, seaweed, nori and other foods, which contain a large amount of iodine. If patients consume these foods for a long time, it may cause the recurrence of thyroid malignant tumor, which is not only detrimental to the recovery of patients’ condition, but also may produce more serious complications.
