Can ankle synovitis heal on its own?

Most cases of ankle synovitis do not heal on their own. Only new, very mild synovitis can be temporarily relieved by rest and heat. If a patient is diagnosed with ankle synovitis, the following treatment can be used: First, for mild to moderate synovitis, the patient can be asked to rest and be treated with anti-inflammatory, anti-swelling, and pain-relieving medications. Commonly used are non-steroidal drugs, such as nimesulide and ibuprofen. In addition, physical therapy such as acupuncture, baking electricity, and hot compresses can be used as auxiliary treatment. Second, for severe synovitis, arthroscopic surgery can be used for treatment. The main principle is to get inside the joint and clean up the synovial membrane to relieve the disease.
