Under normal circumstances, the fetal sac should be inside the uterus after pregnancy. In contrast, ectopic pregnancy, in which the fetal sac is outside the uterus, is medically known as ectopic pregnancy, in which the fertilized egg is implanted outside the body cavity of the uterus. Depending on the site of implantation of the fertilized egg, it is divided into tubal pregnancy, ovarian pregnancy, abdominal pregnancy, cervical pregnancy, broad ligament pregnancy, and uterine stump pregnancy. The ectopic pregnancy we commonly refer to is mainly tubal pregnancy, which accounts for about 95% of ectopic pregnancy and mainly occurs in the abdomen of the fallopian tube. The uterus is located in the middle of the pelvis, with one fallopian tube on each side. The fallopian tubes are divided into the interstitial part, isthmus, abdominal part and umbrella end, which are connected to the uterus in a free state and the abdominal cavity. Under normal circumstances, a woman’s ovum and a man’s ejaculated sperm meet sexually in the abdomen of the fallopian tube to become a fertilized egg. With the help of the fallopian tube cilia, it gradually moves medially towards the uterine cavity, where it then finds a well-nourished place to settle and develop further, i.e., to implant. If the inner fallopian tube is inaccessible due to various reasons such as inflammation of the fallopian tube, history of fallopian tube surgery, congenital malformation of the fallopian tube as well as compression by large fibroids of the uterus and ovarian tumors, tubal pregnancy is likely to occur; or if the fertilized egg moves outward to form an umbilical pregnancy or even enters the abdominal cavity and an abdominal or ovarian pregnancy occurs, it is all ectopic pregnancy. The main symptoms of ectopic pregnancy include abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding after menopause, syncope or shock after rupture of ectopic pregnancy and abdominal mass. In life, for fertile women with normal sex life, when unexplained abdominal pain after menopause with vaginal bleeding occurs, they need to be alerted to the possibility of ectopic pregnancy, which is life-threatening in serious cases, and they need to go to the hospital in time.
