The difference between amblyopia and hyperopia

What is farsightedness? We all know that myopia can cause difficulty seeing distant objects, but few people know that higher levels of farsightedness not only cause difficulty seeing distant objects but also amblyopia. Farsightedness is a refractive state of the eye, and together with myopia and astigmatism, it is called refractive error. If we talk about farsightedness alone, it is not easy to understand, but if we link farsightedness and lens thickness together, it is relatively intuitive. The higher the farsightedness, the thicker the lenses, and the thickness of the lenses can be used to roughly determine the farsightedness of the child. Farsightedness is not part of the amblyopia treatment, but it will gradually decrease as the child ages, the eye develops, and the eye axis grows longer, even if the farsightedness is not treated with glasses, the farsightedness will slowly decrease, but the poor fundus function will not improve, and the vision will not improve if the development is stalled. What is amblyopia? Amblyopia is a condition in which the child’s vision is below the normal standard with glasses. The child is asked to point to the vision chart in the hospital in the up and down, left and right, and different opening directions, and which line the child can point to correctly indicates which level of vision development has been reached. If parents of amblyopic patients are careful, they will find that the first time they get glasses, the child can’t see clearly after pointing to the largest row, which means that the child’s vision development is poor. However, after a period of treatment, when the child came back to the hospital for a review, he or she was still wearing the same pair of glasses and the same prescription, but the child could see several lines more than last time, and the visual markers he or she could point out were getting smaller and smaller, and even adults could not see clearly, but the child could still point out correctly, which means that after this period of wearing glasses, the vision development was better than before, and he or she could see more clearly than before, which is the effect of treatment. What is the relationship between amblyopia and hyperopia? Many parents attribute the formation of amblyopia in their children to inattention to eye use, excessive cell phone viewing and computer viewing, when in fact it is caused by congenital moderate or high hyperopia or astigmatism. Amblyopia is formed by medium and high hyperopia, so the treatment also starts from correcting hyperopia, that is, when medium and high hyperopia are corrected, amblyopia will be cured slowly. So here we should understand one thing: Wearing glasses is not to treat farsightedness, not to reduce the number of degrees, but to improve the child’s vision, more precisely to improve the child’s vision with glasses, that is to say, wearing glasses is to treat the child’s amblyopia. I hope that after reading this article, you will be able to figure out the difference between farsightedness and amblyopia, and what is and what is not treated by wearing glasses.
