Can ductal carcinoma in situ of the breast be cured?

Ductal carcinoma in situ of the breast, in theory, can be cured. The treatment for ductal carcinoma in situ of the breast is mainly surgery. There are three types of surgical treatment, including breast preservation surgery, total mastectomy and breast reconstruction surgery after mastectomy. The choice of surgical treatment is mainly based on two points: First, the patient’s will, whether the patient requires breast preservation surgery or breast excision surgery. Second, the size of the lesion should also be taken into consideration. If the lesion is relatively limited, breast-conserving surgery is suitable, while more extensive ductal carcinoma in situ is not suitable for breast-conserving surgery. If the surgical method is more appropriate and there is no local residual cancer, ductal carcinoma in situ can be cured.
