How long can the caesarean section wound touch water

Wounds after cesarean section usually heal in about 1 week, and can touch water 24 hours after healing and stitching, depending on the type of incision, healing situation, etc. Cesarean incisions are divided into horizontal and vertical incisions. The horizontal incision heals faster, usually 5 days after surgery, while the vertical incision heals slower, taking about 7 days. The incision can be exposed to water 24 hours after healing and stitching if there is no redness, swelling, or oozing. Patients can choose to take a shower and dry the water around the incision in time after showering, use iodophor or alcohol cotton balls to disinfect, and pay attention to observe whether the incision is red, swollen and fluid. However, care should be taken to avoid prolonged contact of the incision with water to prevent infection. If redness, swelling, cracking or purulent discharge is found in the wound, medical attention should be sought promptly. In addition, women should pay attention to keeping warm after cesarean delivery, avoid cold, spicy and stimulating food, strengthen nutrition appropriately and avoid strenuous exercise.
