Why breast reconstruction? Breast cancer surgery destroys the morphological features of female breast while treating the disease, which aggravates the patient’s heart. Breast reconstruction can be done in 1 stage or 2 stages: 1 stage reconstruction: the indications are selected and the current progress is mostly focused on this; 2 stage reconstruction: it can be applied to all patients with breast defects. The basic methods of breast reconstruction: 1) implantation; 2) breast reconstruction with skin flap and muscle flap (autologous tissue); 3) combination of the two. Silicone breast implants Silicone breast implants have a softer feel and are more widely accepted in terms of shape after reconstruction. After 40 years of clinical experience and nearly 10 years of research, silicone implants have been proven to be safe for: 1) latissimus dorsi flap breast reconstruction; 2) DIEP flap breast reconstruction; 3) TRAM flap breast reconstruction.
