Why should I keep my medical records?

At follow-up appointments (especially for pediatric patients), we ask that patients bring their medical records from previous examinations (even from outside hospitals). There are several reasons for this: 1. When changing lenses for children, we need to compare the results of several optometric examinations, corrected visual acuity, and consider the changes in eye position and binocular visual function. 2, adults should pay attention to: the refraction of the previous prescription, the axial and pupillary distance of astigmatism and understand the old lens wearing situation. 3, in addition, when changing glasses should provide the optometrist with the previous prescription, and carefully describe the current wearing problems, so that the optometrist fully understand your situation, to match you with more appropriate glasses. 4. The optometrist needs to understand the changes in the patient’s (especially pediatric patients) prescription and choose different dilated pupil methods, prescription principles, fitting methods, additional examinations, etc. according to the changes in the course of the disease. Therefore, it is important to bring your medical history and past data to your follow-up appointment, and to adhere to the principle of “one book to the end. We hope that everyone will cooperate with us.
