What to do if your baby has a bacterial infection and fever

  A baby with a fever caused by a bacterial infection often needs to be treated with cooling and antibacterial therapy. Fevers caused by bacterial infections in babies tend to be recurrent and even have high fevers that do not go away, which can have serious effects on the baby.  If the fever reaches 38.5℃, it is recommended to give the child some fever-reducing medication to reduce the fever, but the specific medication and dosage need to be taken under the guidance of a doctor. If the fever is below 38.5℃ for physical cooling, you can wipe your baby’s whole body with warm water or take a bath, put a cool towel on the forehead, and the water temperature should preferably not even exceed 37℃. However, it is not recommended to use substances containing alcohol to cool the baby.  If the baby’s temperature exceeds 38.5℃, it is recommended to give the child some antipyretic drugs to reduce fever, commonly used antipyretic drugs such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen granules and rectal administration.
