What do I need to know about blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty is also known as double eyelid surgery and is a widely performed cosmetic surgery. There are various surgical methods, but they are mainly divided into several categories such as buried, incision, and Korean cut.       1, Surgical method buried wire method: suitable for eyelid skin is not particularly loose, and the upper lid subcutaneous tissue is thin. The buried wire method buries the wire knot between the dermis and the lid plate for permanent retention and stronger adhesions, but the correct anatomical level must be mastered. Recovery is possible in about a week. Incision: It involves cutting the upper lid skin open and the lid does not disappear. In older people with loose skin, wrinkles or bulging eyelid fat, a small amount of skin and some of the eyelid fat can be removed to reduce the symptoms of laxity and bloating of the upper lid. A subtle incision scar is left in the early stages. 2. Indications: 1. If the skin of the upper eyelid drapes over the lid margin, covering not only the eyelashes but also part of the eye, resulting in a narrow eyelid fissure, the eye fissure cannot be fully opened to reveal the bright eye, giving the impression that the eyes are listless, sluggish, and foolish, then blepharoplasty can be used to enlarge the eye fissure. 2. One eye has single eyelid and the other eye has double eyelid. 3. Asymmetrical eyelids on both eyes. 4. Narrow eyelids that require widening. The incision method is suitable for single eyelids with thick or fatty eyelids, single eyelids where the two eyes are not the same size, or single eyelids with drooping lids. It has the disadvantage of long surgery time and recovery period compared to the buried liner method, but you can usually recover in 5-7 days. The buried wire method is suitable for single eyelids where the eyelid skin is thin and the orbicularis oculi is thin. The postoperative precautions for double eyelid surgery are, in the incision bandage for 24 hours, the next day after surgery to remove the gauze or remove it by themselves, to take oral antibacterial 5 – 7 days of time, and then there is 5 – 7 days after surgery to remove the suture surgery day is not counted, simulation double eyelids do not need to remove the suture. There is also a ban on smoking for a year, paying special attention to stay away from secondhand smoke. Any kind of method is to hope that you recover as soon as possible. 4. Recovery time: For incisional blepharoplasty, swelling is noticeable within a week after treatment, gradually decreases in 2 to 3 weeks, and completely subsides in 1 to 3 months. Six months to a year after treatment the scars completely recede and scar removal medication can be used. The final result is a good-looking double eyelid. If you have a buried blepharoplasty the recovery time is even shorter because there is no need to remove stitches and the swelling can be reduced in three days after surgery and makeup can be applied in a week at most. 5. Precautions: First, blepharoplasty should be avoided during menstruation. Second, middle-aged and elderly patients should have their blood pressure measured and electrocardiogram done if necessary. If you have mild abnormalities, you should use the right medication before surgery. Third, make sure to choose a regular hospital and a regular surgeon for the surgery. (Most important)
