The course of development of the interdigital sound of white sunlight has entered the era of refractive cataract surgery from the era of restorative cataract surgery. In the past, due to the limitation of technology and the living standard of the general population, cataract patients only asked for restoration of sight and doctors only solved the problem of decerebration or disablement. Nowadays, cataract patients do not only ask to be able to see, but to see well, to have good vision and quality of life. Cataract surgeons are faced with a new challenge : good postoperative distance and near vision. As we all know, people’s eyes will gradually become presbyopic as they get older. Reading, reading newspapers, sewing, painting, reading labels at supermarkets and even filling out deposit slips at banks and other close work require presbyopic glasses, which is very inconvenient. After cataract surgery, they also face the same problem, seeing distant things clearly but seeing near things blurred, because ordinary IOLs do not have the function of seeing near. Nowadays, a new type of IOL, multifocal IOL, has emerged to solve this problem, providing clear vision in the distance and near, and providing full vision in the distance, medium and near, which is very convenient and popular among patients. It can be called a “presbyopic lens implanted in the eye”. Another new type of IOL is designed for astigmatism. Astigmatism has a great impact on vision and requires astigmatic glasses to correct it, and some people with high astigmatism are unable to accept glasses and experience significant discomfort. Approximately 44% of cataract patients have ≥1D of corneal astigmatism. These astigmatism, if not corrected, can affect the patient’s postoperative vision. This new IOL is clinically proven to be very effective and can significantly improve post-operative vision, freeing patients from the hassle of glasses. In the past 20 years, with the wide application of ultrasound emulsification technology in clinical practice, the results of cataract surgery have undergone a radical change. This has realized the dream of generations of ophthalmologists and brought a blessing to cataract patients.
