Causes of high thyroglobulin antibodies in pregnant women

Thyroglobulin antibodies are a common autoantibody in the serum of patients with autoimmune thyroid disease and are closely related to damage to thyroid tissue. Generally, when the body is immunocompetent, there should be no thyroglobulin antibodies or only trace amounts of thyroglobulin antibodies in the body. If thyroglobulin antibodies are elevated in pregnant women, it means that the body has produced thyroid antibodies against itself, which is an autoimmune abnormality. It is usually caused by autoimmune thyroid diseases, such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and hyperthyroidism. Pregnant women in this category are prone to change to hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism in the future and have a relatively higher rate of miscarriage than the general population. If thyrotropin, free triiodothyronine and free thyroxine are all within normal values, then hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism is not considered. However, you should go to the hospital for regular maternity checkups to observe the development of the fetus. In addition, during pregnancy, you should ensure a balanced diet, control the intake of iodine in your diet, avoid smoking and alcohol, and avoid taking medication without authorization. At the same time, you should pay attention to reasonable rest, ensure sufficient sleep, and adhere to appropriate exercise every day to keep your mood relaxed.
