What is the cause of frequent watering eyes

Frequent tearing of the eyes should firstly exclude irritating tearing caused by ocular surface diseases; and secondly exclude overflowing tears caused by obstruction of the lacrimal drainage system due to lacrimal tract diseases. Ocular surface diseases, such as various inflammatory diseases, conjunctivitis, keratitis, blepharitis, and blepharitis, can lead to conjunctival congestion causing irritated tearing; for example, foreign body sensation in the eye, which may be a foreign body in the conjunctival sac, corneal foreign body, eyelid stones, and impingement, can also cause irritated tearing; in addition, visual fatigue and dry eye syndrome may also cause tearing. Dry eye syndrome generally manifests as transient lacrimation. The lacrimal tract includes the lacrimal dots, lacrimal ducts, common lacrimal duct, nasolacrimal duct, and lacrimal sac. Therefore, any cause that causes a lesion in one part of the tear duct, resulting in a poor tear duct, will cause the phenomenon of tear overflow. For example, tear duct insufficiency, tear duct narrowing or obstruction, dacryocystitis, dacryocystitis, etc. Therefore, if the phenomenon of tearing occurs, it is best to go to the hospital for a tear duct irrigation examination to determine. If the tear duct is obstructed, consider puncturing it with a tear duct dilator. In case of nasolacrimal duct obstruction, lacrimal duct exploration can be considered. If it is chronic dacryocystitis, nasal lacrimal sac anastomosis surgery or lacrimal sac removal surgery is recommended.
