Is adenomyosis an undead cancer?

Adenomyosis is not a cancer, but it is difficult to treat.
Adenomyosis is a benign disease, which is mainly caused by the invasion of endometrial glands and mesenchyme into the myometrium. The cause of the disease is still unclear, and some patients may be related to uterine operations such as pregnancy, childbirth and abortion. Patients may experience increased menstruation and progressively worsening dysmenorrhea.
Patients can be treated with medication, painkillers can be used for mild symptoms, contraceptives or progesterone can be used for mild symptoms, no fertility requirements and near menopause to control the development of the lesions, and GnRHa can be used as a preoperative medication for some patients with large lesions and surgical difficulties.
If the patient has no reproductive requirement, radical surgery, i.e. hysterectomy, can be performed. If the patient has reproductive requirement and the symptoms are more severe, conservative surgery can be performed, including resection of adenomyosis lesions (adenomyoma), endometrial and myomectomy, myomectomy with electrocoagulation of the uterine myometrium, uterine artery blockage, as well as presacral neurectomy and sacrococcygeal neurectomy.
Adenomyosis is highly prevalent in women between the ages of 30 and 50, and most of them are found during gynecological examinations such as ultrasound and MRI. It is recommended to consult the doctor in case of any discomfort, so as to clarify the diagnosis and treat the disease in time to avoid any delay.
