Who said that the years are like rivers? The river rounds off the stones, but the years leave furrows (wrinkles) on our faces. 20, 30, 40 …… women look in the mirror in very different moods: 20-year-old girls can pose in the mirror and practice all kinds of cute expressions, who make youth invincible! 30-year-old woman began to obsess about calculating the fine lines at the corners of the eyes and anxiously shattered …… 40-year-old woman looking in the mirror may be to put the hair bun right. The 50-year-old woman even combing her hair without a mirror, maybe sometimes not combing her hair, whatever it is …… However, if a 30-year-old woman, the skin always stays in the 20-year-old state, she may still be in front of the mirror every day as always for a good while. The difference is probably the word “old” and the number one accomplice of the word “old” is: wrinkles. Remove the wrinkles! Wrinkle removal! Wrinkles! You may have looked up a lot of information on the internet, and you may have looked through the advertisements on ……. The result is a lot of information and all sorts of fancy terms that make you dizzy. In the end, what forms of wrinkle removal are there? And which one are you suitable for? Classic coronal facelift (Facelift/ Rhytidectomy) The so-called coronal facelift is a circular incision in the hairline, just like the big haircuts that girls carry, with a large range of muscle membrane peeling through the hairline wound behind the ear, and pulling upward to suspend and fix the excess skin, and the wound is hidden in the hairline of the back of the neck. The result of this surgery is complete. However, there are strict indications for the procedure, and it is generally not suitable for people under the age of 55. Who is calling a halt to the “facelift”? Some organizations have the slogan “no more facelifts” for publicity purposes. This is actually misleading. The facelift has been used as a classic wrinkle reduction procedure for decades since its inception and is still in clinical use today. The reason for these organizations to put forward the slogan of “no more facelift” is that the incision of facelift is big, dangerous and slow to heal. However, for patients aged 60-80 with severe facial laxity and wrinkles who want to achieve complete wrinkle reduction, a facelift is the obvious choice. The procedure has a larger incision and the possibility of damage to facial tissues and nerves is increased. It is a true total wrinkle removal compared to other wrinkle removal, and therefore requires a higher level of skill from the surgeon. As long as you choose an experienced surgeon, you can not only return your smooth skin, but also safely avoid damage to facial nerves and fidelity to your expressions, so there is no need to worry too much. Because any surgery has risks, a good doctor can minimize them. The small incision wrinkle removal In response to the problem of large damage to the coronal facelift, many doctors later began to use the small incision wrinkle removal method, which is actually a modified version of the large facelift, using the same principles, only the surgical incision from the “big hairpin” into three or five points (small incisions are hidden in the hairline), the length of each incision varies. The small incisions require the use of endoscopic technology to separate the subcutaneous tissue. Generally, considering the general fear of scarring among candidates, doing this procedure generally tries to keep the incisions as small as possible, although it takes a little more time and effort. Temporal wrinkle reduction is a wrinkle reduction procedure mainly for crow’s feet and sagging outer corners of the eyes, and it can also play a role in reducing lower eye bags and improve sagging eyebrows to some extent. The temporal wrinkle surgery incision can be made on the hairline or inside the hair. The temporal skin is separated, the orbicularis oculi muscle is treated, the skin is lifted upward and the excess is removed, and the skin is finely sutured. The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia and takes about an hour and a half to two hours. SMAS Facelift SMAS (superficial musculotendinous system) fascial wrinkle removal is based on the previous “facelift” procedure, which is a fascial suspension of the subcutaneous tissues and has been used in clinical practice for many years with good clinical results. Some facelifts only tighten the superficial sagging skin, but for many patients, not only the superficial skin is sagging, but the fatty muscles underneath are also atrophied and sagging, so they need to be tightened at the same time. If this layer of fascia is pulled upward during the facelift, the sagging muscles can also be pulled back to their original position, and then the excess skin can be removed to achieve a long-term facelift effect. At the same time, because the tension is borne by the subcutaneous fascia, the expression looks more natural. This is called SMAS fascial suspension method. There are two main methods of fascial suspension for wrinkle reduction: one is to suspend the facial fascia directly with special instruments and sutures without extensive skin peeling. The other method uses extensive subcutaneous peeling followed by fascial suspension. The surgical incision for both is between 2 cm and 4 cm. The surgical solution includes the corners of the eyes as well as the cheeks, which can alleviate the depth of the nasolabial folds. The results of the suspension procedure are still possible. Mid-Facelift or Cheek Lift For some younger patients, they usually present aging only in the mid-face (i.e., the area between the cheeks), mainly by the appearance of nasolabial folds and sagging of the cheeks. In this case, a large peel is not required and often only a small incision is needed, such as around the mouth and lips, or more often the entrance from the lower eyelid. This is why midface wrinkle removal is usually accompanied by lower eyelid surgery, i.e. eyebag removal. There is no visible wound after surgery and recovery is quick. Neck Lift with Corset Platysmaplasty Many times a neck lift is required in conjunction with a facelift. It is shown in the 2nd picture of this article. It involves making an incision on the inside of the chin to lift the entire broad neck muscle. Liposuction of the neck is also usually required. A bandage is used to hold the entire neck in place for a period of time after the procedure. ThreadLift (Non-Surgical Facelift) As shown in the picture, this is the method used in some places that promote “non-surgical wrinkle reduction”. A needle is cut through the hairline and a surgical hollow threaded with a non-absorbable polypropylene lift is inserted into the subcutaneous fat layer. Since the tip of the needle has a barb (anchor point), the skin is grasped and one or more threads are used to lift the loose tissue under the skin and secure it to the hairline. This surgical method is claimed to be: painless and non-invasive. However, it is only suitable for very minor facial aging, it is a low difficulty surgery, quick results, but the maintenance time is very short, in my words, called “fast food wrinkle removal”. The incision is usually made in the hidden hairline or in front of the ear screen. 2. The tissue area to be lifted. This depends on the specific needs of each individual. The heavier the degree of aging, the deeper the depth of the tissue to be lifted. 3.Surgical effect. How long does it last? Generally, it is 3-5 years. Regardless, it is a fact that any wrinkle reduction procedure has a time limit of years. It can be as short as a few months or as long as a few years.
