Post-operative medication and precautions after femtosecond laser myopia treatment

Femtosecond laser (excimer laser) postoperative medication and precautions for myopia treatment
  Pre-operative preparation
  1. Maintain a normal life and pay attention to proper rest before treatment.
  2. Follow the doctor’s instructions for antibiotic eye drops.
3.On the day of treatment, do not use perfume, cream, mascara and all other make-up products, because the smell and particles produced may affect the normal operation of the equipment and eye cleaning, thus affecting the treatment effect.
4.On the day of treatment, you should arrange for someone to pick up and drop off, because it is difficult to move around after the eye package on the same day.
  Treatment process
  1.Preparation process
Before entering the operating room, the eyes are cleaned in the preparation room, the eyelids and surrounding skin are disinfected, and surface anesthetic drops are applied to make the treatment painless.
  2.Treatment process
  (1) After entering the operating room, the doctor will guide you to sit on the 3D automatic lift chair, start the lift chair to make you lie flat under the host lens, and the doctor will position your head correctly and then stop turning your head.
  (2) In a relaxing musical environment, the surgeon uses the lid opener to hold your eyelids open and your eyes are to look at the microscope light above. Be careful to cooperate well with the doctor while he/she is operating, do not squeeze your eyes and avoid turning your eyeballs.
  (3) When the doctor activates the laser, look at the red light above you and fix your eye position so that the laser scanning position is accurate. You may hear a slight “pop” of the laser and smell something burning, which will last for a few seconds.
  (4) After the procedure, the eye is bandaged or an eye patch is worn.
There is no significant discomfort during the entire treatment and the spirit can be completely relaxed.
  Post-treatment precautions
After the operation, wear an eye patch or wrap the eye and go home to rest. Be careful not to touch the eye by mistake after going to sleep at night.
Do not rub your eyes after surgery.
Do not do any physical activities for 3, days
Do not do eye makeup for 2 weeks
Do not do strenuous sports and confrontational sports (such as basketball, boxing, etc.) for 8 weeks
No swimming, sauna, etc. for 8 weeks
No heavy drinking and smoking for 2 weeks
Do not use computer and TV for 8 weeks
No close reading for 2 weeks
Wear UV-protective glasses outdoors for 8 weeks
Pay attention to eye cleanliness, avoid water in the eyes when washing face and bathing
  No restriction on diet
You can use your eyes normally, bed rest and closed eye rest are not useful for the recovery process
  Post-treatment recovery process
It takes about 3 months for the vision to stabilize, and there may be mild fluctuations in vision during this period.
In the first few days after surgery, some people may sometimes have short-term symptoms such as foreign body sensation, eye redness, eye soreness, tearing, and photophobia.
Some people may experience glare in the immediate postoperative period, so care should be taken when driving at night.
Some people may experience dry eyes after surgery and may use certain medications prescribed by the doctor.
Some people may have difficulty reading at close range. The older the person is and the higher the original degree, the more severe the degree, which can be gradually relieved with time.
  Post-operative medication
It is important to use medication as prescribed after surgery. Dropping other medications or using the wrong dosage may affect the effectiveness of treatment. Go to the hospital for a review after surgery at the time indicated.
Choose the medication according to the medication method.
  Special Reminder
Laser treatment does not affect other physiological and pathological processes of the eye, such as presbyopia and pre-existing pathological changes in the fundus of the eye.
The laser can correct existing myopia, but it cannot stop or prevent the onset or progression of myopia, so post-operative eye protection is still very important and should be taken seriously.
Laser treatment can be repeated, and for rare cases of high myopia with partial refractive regression, a second treatment is possible.
