Difference between amniotic transfer and amniotic cover

Amniotic membrane coverage: This is done by covering the corneal and conjunctival surfaces with only the epithelial side of the amniotic tissue upwards. The first loop is fixed with interrupted sutures along the corneal edge and a second loop is fixed with continuous sutures between the free edge of the amniotic membrane and the conjunctiva. The purpose is to provide a basement membrane for epithelial cell proliferation and to reduce the local inflammatory response. Amniotic membrane graft: It involves cutting the bulbar conjunctiva along the corneal margin, covering the corneal surface with amniotic membrane tissue, placing the free edge under the bulbar conjunctiva, and fixing it with interrupted sutures along the corneal margin. The purpose is to accelerate conjunctival epithelialization of the cornea.
