The causes of otitis media include pathogen infection, Eustachian tube dysfunction, etc., while decreased immunity, etc. can induce the disease.
1. Basic etiology: (1) Pathogen infection: mostly seen in bacterial (such as Haemophilus influenzae, pneumococcus), viral (such as respiratory syncytial virus, adenovirus) infection.
(2) Eustachian tube dysfunction: mostly seen in chronic sinusitis, adenoid hypertrophy and other diseases that cause blockage and narrowing of the Eustachian tube, poor drainage in the middle ear is very likely to lead to infection.
2. Predisposing factors: (1) too young: children under 2 years of age due to the Eustachian tube and the immune system is not yet fully developed, the ear is susceptible to infection.
(2) Breastfeeding position is inappropriate: the baby’s Eustachian tube is short and tends to be horizontal, lying down and sucking the milk can flow back into the middle ear causing infection.
(3) Decreased immunity: susceptibility to infection and increased risk of disease.
It should be noted that the cause of disease in different patients can be individual differences, the specific cause of disease must be analyzed under the guidance of the doctor according to the actual situation.
