Do you need to fast before a lung puncture blood test?

Whether or not fasting is needed for blood test before lung puncture surgery needs to be decided according to the examination items, and fasting is usually not needed for routine blood test, while fasting is needed for coagulation quadruple test. Patients usually need to complete a series of tests before lung puncture, such as routine blood, coagulation four, electrocardiogram, lung CT, etc. Generally, fasting is required for coagulation four, because the body is in a relative basal metabolic state when fasting, and the influence of diet and other factors can be excluded during the blood test, which can reflect the real situation of the human body in the blood. If the blood test is performed after eating, food will enter the bloodstream by digestion and absorption in the gastrointestinal tract and be transported to various tissues and organs by the blood, at which time the concentration of certain components in the blood will increase, which will ultimately affect the accuracy of the test results and fail to accurately reflect the patient’s specific situation. Fasting can be dispensed with when performing routine blood tests, electrocardiograms, lung CTs, and other tests. Such tests are generally not affected by diet. After the blood test, if the patient shows signs of dizziness or fatigue, he/she should inform the doctor in time to avoid any adverse effects.
