The difference between endometrial hyperplasia and polyps mainly lies in the different etiologic factors, imaging tests, and treatment modalities.
1. Etiology: endometrial hyperplasia is caused by a large amount of estrogen or long-term stimulation of the female endometrium, while the body’s progesterone secretion is insufficient to resist excessive estrogen, resulting in endometrial hyperplasia. Polyps are caused by overgrowth of the endometrium under the influence of estrogen, or polyps are caused by long-term inflammatory stimulation or foreign bodies in the uterine cavity.
2. Imaging: endometrial hyperplasia gynecological ultrasound found that the endometrium uniformly thickened, no hypoechoic mass. Polyp gynecological ultrasound shows a hyperechoic mass with blood flow signal.
3. Treatment: uterine hyperplasia can take progestin drugs, can take dextroprogesterone, progesterone, medroxyprogesterone acetate, medroxyprogesterone, progesterone and other progestin drugs, in addition to diagnostic scraping treatment. Polyps are usually treated with hysteroscopic polypectomy.
Endometrial hyperplasia and polyps have the manifestation of abnormal vaginal bleeding, so it should be timely consultation, improve the examination, clarify the cause of the disease, symptomatic treatment.
