Herbal remedies for chronic bronchitis

Chronic bronchitis belongs to the category of cough in Chinese medicine, and can be treated with San’ao Tang combined with Stop Coughing Powder, Sang Ju Drink, Sang Xing Tang, Er Chen Tang combined with San Zi Nourishing Relatives Tang, Qing Jin Hua Phlegm Tang, Di Bai San combined with Dai Clam San, Sha Shen Maidong Tang. Wind-cold attacking the lungs syndrome: manifested by cough, white moss, malignant cold (fear of cold), fever, pale red tongue with white moss, floating and tight pulse, using San’ao Tang combining with Stop Cough San. Wind-heat attacking the lungs: cough, yellowish thick sputum, body heat, thirst, red tongue, thin yellow moss, floating pulse, use Sang Ju Drink. Warm dryness injuring the lungs: manifested by dry cough, dry nose and lips with slight cold, body heat, thin yellow tongue coating, floating pulse, use Sang Xing Tang. Phlegm-dampness in the lungs: cough with excessive phlegm, white color, chest and epigastric congestion, white and greasy tongue coating, smooth pulse; use Er Chen Tang combined with San Zi Nourishing Relatives Soup. Symptoms of phlegm-heat congestion of the lungs: cough with excessive phlegm, yellow in color, sticky and thick in texture, induced pain in the chest and ribs, body heat, face red, red tongue, yellowish greasy moss, and slippery pulse; use Qingjin Huozhu Tang to resolve phlegm. Liver fire offending the lungs: manifesting as cough, symptoms may increase or decrease with emotional fluctuations, thin yellowish tongue coating, stringy pulse; use Di Bai San and Dai Clam San. Symptoms of deficiency of lung yin (insufficient yin in the lungs): manifested by dry cough with little sputum or even hemoptysis, heart-heat (heat in the heart of the hands and feet, and self-consciousness of heart and chest irritation (irritability and sullenness)), red tongue with little moss, and fine pulse (pulse becomes narrow and thin and accelerates in rate), using Sha Shen Maidong Tang. The adverse reactions and contraindications of the above formulae are not known.
