The incidence of pcos accounts for 5-10% of women of childbearing age, and the incidence is increasing year by year. pcos mostly starts in adolescence and is a common disease in adolescent girls, often with menstrual disorders, hirsutism and acne as the main reasons for consultation. Obesity is also a common manifestation of pcos during adolescence. The main manifestations of pcos in reproductive age are menstrual disorders, hirsutism, obesity and infertility, and not only reproductive disorders but also metabolic abnormalities. Therefore, pcos is a difficult disease that seriously affects women’s health during adolescence, childbearing age, late menopause and even throughout their life, and is a killer of women’s health. The exact cause of pcos is still unclear. The occurrence of pcos is closely related to genetic factors, environmental factors and lifestyle, such as family history of parents with diabetes, hypertension and parents with early baldness; low birth weight; pubic hair appearing before the age of 8; girls with overweight body mass with hairy acne; obese girls before puberty; life factors, bulimia or excessive dieting; excessive stress, study pressure. Environmental pollution, etc. are all high-risk factors for the development of pcos. The treatment of PCOS, the approach taken by Western medicine is to treat patients symptomatically according to their different needs at different ages. Treatment goals include immediate goals: regulation of the menstrual cycle, control of hirsutism and acne, and weight control; and long-term goals: prevention of diabetes, endometrial cancer, obesity, heart disease, and infertility. The drugs used, including progestins, oral contraceptives and metformin, have varying degrees of gastrointestinal reactions and liver and kidney function damage, and should not be taken for long periods of time. It is especially unfavorable for long-term medication treatment of adolescent patients. Chinese medicine has a history of several thousand years in treating pcos. The remarkable clinical efficacy proves that Chinese medicine can regulate both menstruation and pregnancy, and at the same time regulate endocrine and metabolic functions.
