Adverse reactions to common antiepileptic drugs

The mechanisms of adverse reactions to antiepileptic drugs are complex and involve multiple systems, some of which can be cured by discontinuing the drug, while others can cause irreversible damage. We should ask the patients and their family history of disease and drug metabolic reaction before medication; regularize and rationalize the dose of medication; monitor the physiological indexes of the patients during the period of medication; monitor the blood concentration of the patients regularly when conditions are available; minimize the combination of medication because of the interaction between these drugs or with other therapeutic drugs; take appropriate measures to treat the adverse reactions when they occur. In case of adverse reactions, appropriate measures should be taken to treat them.
