How long does it usually take to recover from bacterial pneumonia

The recovery time for bacterial pneumonia is related to the causative organism, the severity of the disease, and the patient’s own resistance, and is usually about 2 weeks. Pneumonia caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae is usually cured in 2 weeks with penicillin treatment; pneumonia caused by Staphylococcus aureus is cured in 2-4 weeks with semi-synthetic penicillin or cephalosporin treatment; pneumonia caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae is cured in 2 weeks with aminoglycoside antibiotics. Usually for non-resistant bacterial infections, the cure time is 1-2 weeks; for severe pneumonia it is more than 2 weeks when it is cured; for severe pneumonia due to drug-resistant bacterial infections, the treatment time is about 4 weeks. If the patient’s resistance is weak, the recovery time will be extended accordingly. In addition, patients should also choose a high-protein, high-calorie, and high-vitamin diet during treatment, while paying attention to rest, drinking plenty of water, and avoiding getting cold.
