Pneumonia is usually treated with lung irrigation in specific cases to reduce the inflammatory response in the lungs as much as possible and to shorten the course of the disease to speed up the recovery. Clinically, it is mainly used for more serious diffuse lung infections treated with effective anti-inflammatory drugs, but the lung inflammation is not confined, such as multiple suppurating abscesses, bronchopleural fistulas, or even fluid in the lungs. In this case, the foci of lung infection are so numerous and severe that the lungs need to be flushed with saline or with the addition of anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce the inflammatory secretions in the lung mucosa and promote the reduction and absorption of lung inflammation to shorten the course of the disease.
