The preparation period is the best time to undergo TORCH screening, when a positive presentation can be treated promptly to prevent the foetus from being infected and leading to an adverse pregnancy outcome. Secondly, if TORCH screening is not performed during pregnancy preparation, TORCH screening can be performed in early pregnancy if appropriate.
Routine screening is not recommended for all pregnant women, but only for those with symptoms of infection or close contact with an infected person or abnormal fetal imaging findings.
