What should I look for before pituitary tumor surgery?

1.Cold and cough can cause the increase of chest pressure and even lead to brain herniation, so pay attention to keep warm and prevent cold for a period of time before surgery.

2.To prevent aspiration pneumonia after surgery, please actively train coughing and sputum excretion before surgery, specifically: cough gently 1-2 times after inhalation, and then cough loudly to promote sputum excretion, once in the morning, once in the afternoon and once in the evening, for 3 hours each time.

3.Bed rest is required after surgery, so please start practicing bed rest and urination at least twice a day from 3 days before surgery.

4.To prevent post-operative infection, please keep your body clean and take a shower or bath every day before surgery.

5.The afternoon before the surgery, the nurse will prepare your skin and shave the hair on your head and perineum, after shaving, please take a shower and wear a clean hospital gown.

6.The nursing staff will help you cut your finger (toe) nails short before surgery. Please take off your dentures, glasses and other valuable jewelry and give them to your family for safekeeping.

7.Fast food and water after 10:00 p.m. the day before surgery.

8.Please ensure sufficient sleep before surgery. If you have insomnia, please inform the medical staff, and you can take oral medication to induce sleep.

9.The nurse will insert the urinary catheter and inject the preoperative needle for you in the morning of surgery.
