How to treat swollen tongue?

Treatment of swollen uvula starts with identifying the cause of the swollen uvula and then treating the cause with medication, such as antihistamines and glucocorticoids for angioedema, antibiotics or antivirals for pendulitis and peri-tonsillar abscesses, diphtheria antitoxin for diphtheria and acid suppressants for throat reflux. If medication fails, or if uvula cancer is suspected, or if laryngeal obstruction or airway obstruction is present, surgery is indicated.
In addition, treatments such as nebulised inhalation medication, puncture to extract pus or incision to drain pus are also included to alleviate the appropriate symptoms.
