What causes hip pain in young people?

Hip pain in young people should be considered in relation to strenuous work, prolonged walking and strenuous exercise.
If it is frequent and does not resolve easily, hip dysplasia or femoroacetabular impingement syndrome should be ruled out first.
If there is also a history of prolonged hormone use or alcohol abuse, femoral head necrosis should be ruled out.
If there is also pain and discomfort in other joints and restriction of movement, other rheumatologic and immunologic conditions may be involved.
All of the above suggest a visit to the hospital to refine the relevant imaging studies to further define the cause.
