Iodophor has an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effect and is effective in treating red bumps on the scalp caused in part by bacterial and fungal infections. However, red bumps on the scalp can be caused by a variety of factors. If the condition is caused by allergies, tumours or structural variants of the blood vessels, applying iodophor can have a limited effect and may even delay treatment.
