How many years can you live with a nodular shadow on your lungs?

Due to the application of high-resolution CT and air pollution, nodular shadows can be seen on the lungs of most people. The length of life of patients with intrapulmonary nodules is related to the nature of the nodules and whether the patients are effectively treated. Round-like lesions in the lungs less than 3 cm in diameter are pulmonary nodules, which are usually found on the lungs of people who work in dusty environments, such as teachers and coal miners. If the CT film indicates that the nodule has a well-defined margin, without lobes or burrs, it suggests that the nodule is mostly benign, and usually the nodule will not change on regular review and therefore will not affect life expectancy. If the CT film indicates lobes and burrs on the nodule edge, and the biopsy indicates malignancy, the prognosis is generally better if surgery and other treatment options are chosen in time, and the life expectancy of the patient is not affected. If the patient does not receive effective treatment and the nodule continues to grow as a mass and metastases occur inside and outside the lung, life expectancy can be severely affected, with some patients surviving for only 1 month. In addition, when a nodule is detected on the lung, the patient should not be nervous, and it is recommended to bring the CT test results to the thoracic surgery department to seek the doctor’s opinion.
