What to do if your child has recurrent pneumonia fever

Recurrent fever in children with pneumonia is usually considered to be caused by the current anti-infective treatment regimen not fully covering the causative organism or by an inadequate course of anti-infective therapy. In this case, it is advisable to actively consult a pediatrician at a regular hospital to improve blood work, C-reactive protein, calcitoninogen, sputum culture, drug sensitivity test, blood culture, and, if necessary, a CT scan of the chest to assess the lung infection. In this case, it is recommended to give broad-spectrum antibiotics for anti-infection treatment. After the results of sputum culture or blood culture are returned, sensitive antibiotics should be selected according to the results of drug sensitivity test, and symptomatic supportive treatment should be strengthened. If the body temperature is >38.5℃, drug antipyretic treatment should be given, commonly used is ibuprofen; if the body temperature is <38.5℃, physical cooling can be given to prevent convulsions caused by high fever.
