Neonatal respiratory distress syndrome is a disease caused by a deficiency of lung surface active substance, mostly seen in premature babies. Severe respiratory distress and hypoxia appear a few hours after birth and worsen progressively, requiring prompt examination to confirm the diagnosis and give relevant treatment such as mechanical ventilation to avoid serious consequences.
