Are Isolated Fibrous Tumors Cancer

Isolated fibrous tumors are not necessarily cancerous.
The new WHO classification classifies isolated fibrous tumors as intermediate tumors, most patients have benign lesions, malignant lesions are less common, the ratio of benign to malignant is about 7:1, and tumors with a diameter of >10cm have a high likelihood of malignancy. Benign isolated fibrous tumors grow slowly and are small. Malignant isolated fibrous tumors may produce signs of local infiltration, distant metastasis, and recurrence.
Isolated fibrous tumor (SFT) is a rare type of mesenchymal tumor, which is usually a localized painless mass, and its increasing size may compress other organs and cause symptoms such as coughing and dyspnea, etc. Patients with SFT are mainly treated with surgical resection.
Patients with SFT are mainly treated with surgical resection, and should seek prompt medical attention if they feel unwell to avoid progression of the disease.
