How to operate on a mixed tumor of the submandibular gland

Mixed tumors of the submandibular gland are among the more common benign tumors of the oral and maxillofacial region, and the surgical approach is primarily by local tumor excision. If the pathology is benign, simple tumor resection is sufficient. If the pathology is malignant, i.e. cancer of submandibular gland, radical surgery is required, including lymph node dissection in the neck, and the need for adjuvant radiotherapy will be decided according to the specific situation after surgery. Mixed tumor of submandibular gland usually has no obvious symptoms in the early stage of the tumor and is not easy to be detected because there is no pain, but as the tumor increases in size, a lump may be felt on the left or right side of the submandibular gland. Gradual enlargement of the tumor may cause compression symptoms, which in turn may lead to hoarseness, dyspnea, dysphagia and so on. Relevant auxiliary examinations should be perfected before surgery, and after the diagnosis is clear, surgery should be carried out in time, and regular review should be paid attention to after surgery. In daily life, we should pay attention to diet, prohibit spicy and stimulating food, quit smoking, quit drinking, avoid strenuous activities, avoid excessive fatigue, if there are other uncomfortable symptoms, we need to go to the hospital in a timely manner to consult the symptomatic treatment.
