Can chiggers recur?

Recurrence of scrub typhus after cure does exist in clinical practice, but is extremely rare.
If the medication is administered for less than 7 days, the pathogen may not be completely killed, resulting in a relapse, and therefore a full course of medication is required.
It is generally believed that the antibodies in the body can last for 5-10 years after recovery from scrub typhus, and in some cases for more than 20 years, but this is not absolute.
In summary, it is recommended that patients need to be actively treated when first infected with scrub typhus and also need to avoid exposure to risk factors such as rodents in the future to avoid contracting scrub typhus at the source.
