What is the difference between a gastrointestinal cold and infectious gastroenteritis?

Infectious gastroenteritis is a condition in which the gastrointestinal tract is infected by pathogenic microorganisms and not only does it become dysfunctional, but the tissues of the gastrointestinal tract suffer some damage and become inflamed. In contrast, in gastrointestinal flu, there is only dysfunction in the gastrointestinal tract and no parenchymal lesions.
