Interventional treatment of hepatic hemangioma

The clinical manifestations of hepatic hemangioma are related to the location, size, growth rate and the degree of liver parenchyma involvement. Small cases are asymptomatic, while large cases may have epigastric discomfort, abdominal pain, abdominal distension, nausea, vomiting and prolonged low-grade fever. The main interventional treatment for hepatic hemangioma is hepatic artery embolization. The indications are as follows: those with symptoms, those with hemangioma rupture and bleeding, those with masses larger than 5 cm in diameter, those with tumor tendency to increase in size or those with masses located under the liver envelope that may rupture under external force. Compared with other treatments, the advantages of interventional treatment for hepatic hemangioma are wide indications, less damage, faster recovery, and better treatment effect.
