What are the causes of swollen fingers in the morning?

If you wake up in the morning with swollen fingers, suspect nephrogenic oedema. It is caused by a variety of reasons that reduce the function of the kidneys to excrete sodium and drainage, resulting in sodium and water retention, which causes an increase in extracellular fluid and can manifest as swollen fingers, more commonly seen as oedema in the eyelids and facial area upon waking up in the morning, and can even progress to the whole body.
