Can epilepsy cause fever?

Epilepsy does not usually cause fever. Patients with epilepsy present with different signs and symptoms, mainly related to the type of epilepsy. Patients with grand mal seizures typically present with forebrain symptoms, which can include twitching of the limbs, foaming at the mouth, hanging from the eyes, and may also present with abnormal blood pressure as well as impaired consciousness. Patients with petit mal seizures, such as aphasic seizures, may suddenly have a transient gaze, do not agree to call the patient, and may have objects held in their hands suddenly fall to the ground, but the patient usually does not fall. There may also be psychotic episodes, such as transient hallucinations or fantasies, and there may be autonomic episodes, which can manifest as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, etc.
