The symptoms of Cryptococcal meningitis are atypical and therefore the diagnosis cannot be made solely on the basis of headache, fever and vomiting.
Patients are advised to visit the neurology or infection department of the hospital to complete relevant tests, such as lumbar puncture cerebrospinal fluid examination and imaging tests. The diagnosis can only be confirmed if tests reveal the presence of meningitis and evidence of a novel cryptococcal infection is found.
