What is hip arthroplasty? Which patients need a joint replacement?

The hip joint of advanced femoral head necrosis is like this: How is artificial hip replacement done, the specific steps are as follows: 1, the normal hip joint consists of the acetabulum, femoral head, articular cartilage and the surrounding ligaments and soft tissues 2, total hip replacement is the replacement of which the acetabulum and femoral head. The surgical procedure is as follows: after the surgical exposure, the femoral neck is cut off with a pendulum. 3, the acetabulum is polished to a suitable depth with an abrasion. 4, the acetabular prosthesis and acetabular lining are installed. 5, the femoral medullary cavity is abraded and the femoral stem prosthesis is implanted. 6, the joint stability is checked after the reset. Except for infection, any other conditions that cause serious damage to the hip joint and walking dysfunction can be considered for treatment by artificial joint replacement. At present, the most common clinical applications of hip replacement are advanced femoral head necrosis, femoral neck fracture, hip dysplasia, hip osteoarthritis, and other conditions such as traumatic osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis, and periarticular tumors, etc. Hip replacement can also be performed. In addition to severe pain in the hip joint, patients with advanced hip joint disease will also have unequal length of both lower limbs and short and long legs (limp) when walking. Need for surgery. 2.What kind of material is the artificial hip joint made of? Will there be rejection or allergic reaction? The artificial hip joint is divided into four parts: acetabulum, femoral stem, lining and femoral head, mainly made of titanium alloy, cobalt-chromium-molybdenum alloy, ceramic, polymer polyethylene and other materials. These materials are very stable in the human body and will not decompose. Very few patients will have increased levels of these metal ions in the blood, but they will not cause any symptoms. 3.How long does the artificial hip surgery take? How long is the hospital stay? The surgery usually takes about 1 hour. The hospital stay is usually about 5 days. Under normal circumstances, you can walk with a walker in the hospital area on the first day after the surgery, and you can move around normally without obstacles 3-4 weeks after the surgery. 4.How many years can the artificial hip joint be used? According to the data of previous surgical cases, about 90% of artificial joints can be used normally 10 years after surgery. 20 years after surgery, about 80% or more of the joints function well. At present, with the continuous improvement of surgical concepts, surgical techniques, advances in prosthetic materials and manufacturing processes, the service life of joint prostheses has been greatly extended compared to the previous ones, and it is reasonable to believe that the follow-up results of hip replacement surgery patients currently performed will be better after 20 years. 5. Can elderly people with poor health have joint replacements? The majority of hip replacement patients are elderly, and medical problems such as high blood pressure and diabetes are common. 6.What are the main complications of the artificial hip joint? In addition to the risks associated with anesthesia and wound infection, there are also some risks specific to artificial knee replacement surgery, such as infection. The incidence of this infection is around 1 in 100, but it can occur in both the most advanced space-grade operating rooms and standard operating rooms. Once this infection occurs, in most cases the artificial joint has to be removed, the infected area thoroughly cleaned, and a new artificial joint re-installed after the infection is completely eliminated. Another more serious complication is deep vein thrombosis, which can cause stroke and pulmonary embolism in severe cases of thrombus dislodgement, but the risk of this is extremely low, at 1/1000 to 1/10,000.
