It is not cancerous. Hip osteoarthritis is an inflammatory change confined within the hip joint, which can lead to joint pain, fluid accumulation, joint deformation and impaired movement. Late X-rays will show signs of joint bone destruction, but its manifestations are quite different from those of bone cancer and can be differentiated by experienced clinicians.
