What is IVF?

In vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET) is a technique in which eggs are obtained from the woman’s ovaries, cultured with the man’s sperm in vitro to form an embryo, which is then transferred into the uterine cavity with a thin tube to develop into a new life. IVF-ET is a fertility-assisting technique for a variety of infertility causes, such as female tubal adhesion and obstruction or lack of or malfunction of the fallopian tubes, ovulation disorders, endometriosis, unexplained infertility, and male oligozoospermia infertility.
